More and more people are flocking to social networking sites such as Facebook. With the advent of this technology it has opened the flood gates for like minded individuals to make new and exciting friends from all across the world. It also has opened doors for home based business to market to a wider spectrum of prospects. But are those out there promoting their products or business opportunity doing it in the most effective way?
Number One Rule!!! - No Spam!! - this includes joining groups and putting an 'ad' with your link on the group wall, un solicited emailing 'friends' with information about your product/service, etc...
First, it is very obvious you are a newbie to network marketing. Second you look like a spammer and pretty soon others become numb to anything you are touting.
Now with that said, Facebook and other social networking sites can be very good place to promote your business opportunity. The point here is to stay low key. You can talk about what you are doing in your business or cool tips/tricks you have learned when posting a status. But lay off the posting your link every time. Be real, be honest, remember the golden rule - 'Treat others the same way you would want to be treated.'
Some tips on how to promote yourself or you business on social networking sites:
1. It is very easy to add targeted, like minded individuals to your network. I start by going to groups that I am interested in. Say a great book I have read fan page. I then go to the friends section and start to add friends. But I always add a personal message to make it a more valid and lasting friend ship.
Something like, "_____(name)____, Saw you on ______ Book Fan site. This book had such and impact on my life. Cultivating a network of like minded individuals. Look forward to learning more about you." or whatever...
Also if they have an interesting profile pic, make a nice comment about it. such as "I see you have a dog, I have two of my own."
2. If you want to promote your business, make a page or fan club. But again don't make this an advertisement. You can talk about the business and what it has done for you but make it a value added page that shares information and brings true value to those that join the group. (Once again no spam here - put 1 link in the descriptions - leave it alone.)
The point being is this, if people see you as a 'friend' not a 'spammer', but they find value in what you share and learn tips/tricks to marketing/promoting and realize you actually know what you are doing. They, only then, are more likely to be interested in what you are involved in and seek out your advice or look into your business opportunity.
Remember this is a marathon not a sprint. Build and cultivate relationships. Pay forward good blessings and value added information. Soon you will have alot of 'good' friends and learn, grow and hopefully earn together
